What To Wear During Recruitment
ADPi could not be more excited to meet all of the PNM's going through recruitment this year. As recruitment began to creep up around two years ago for me, I remember being anxious about what I was going to wear. I didn't know if what I was wearing was "right" and it seemed that it took me so long to find the "perfect outfit" for each day. Looking back, I wish I had an older girl to give me some advice so here I am giving you my best fashion advice for Fall Recruitment 2020!
When You Feel Your Best, You Look Your Best
Comfort and confidence go hand in hand during recruitment. It's important to find outfits that you are representing yourself in, just like when you have conversations in each house. Make sure to try on your outfits before moving in to make sure you feel good in them. Additionally, if something you are wearing needs to be taken in or adjusted in some way, make it a priority a few weeks before rush so you won’t have to stress about it before you move in. There's nothing worse than having to pull up/tug on a clothing item while trying to keep up with recruitment!
Make A Statement
Even if you aren't the type to wear crazy prints, you can make statements with more subtle yet still unique pieces. Statement pieces such as patterned shorts, bold earrings or even a headband stand out. Especially during round one, every girl is wearing the same shirt so you have the opportunity to show your style through bottoms and accessories. This year during recruitment, you also have the opportunity to make statement during round two. PNM's are able to wear their favorite t-shirt, USC shirt or plain shirt with bottoms. This look can be styled so many different ways. When I went through preference at ADPi one of the girls who I talked to remembered that I wore bright red heels for round three!
Think Ahead
If you are wearing heels for one of the rounds, pack a spare set of shoes for walking around. This is such a life saver and you will not regret it. So many girls don't do this in fear of looking silly (including myself) but trust me it will be worth it in the long run. The truth is, even the girls recruiting you are trying to rest their feet when we can! Consider fabrics when you are picking out dresses for round three and preference because the Columbia heat can take a toll on anyone. It's smart to avoid fabrics that you might sweat through easily such as silky materials or extremely thick dresses.
Accessories
No outfit is complete without accessories and there are so many options for you to choose from. Hair scarves and headbands are a fun way to add something to your outfit as well as throwing on a dainty bracelet or necklace. Don't be afraid to play around with different options before recruitment and see what you feel the best in. Layered necklaces, mismatching studs, cute barrettes and anklets are all favorites!
Outfit Inspo
Lastly, make sure to lay all of your outfits out before recruitment so they don't get lost in the move! Be confident in your choices and don't stress about what you are wearing too much because the most important thing is to be yourself!
